THE BASKETBALL EDGE SUMMER CAMPS

Our camp delivers a quality program by placing a high priority on teaching, motivating, and encouraging athletes to become better basketball players. If you are interested in having a great time while becoming a better basketball player where coaches coach and athletes become better players, then this camp is for you!

The Basketball Edge believes in quality instruction, as we have a coach to player ratio of 1:10 at our summer camp. Our head coaches are professionals certified by the National Coaching Certification Program of Canada (NCCP). Some are also physical education teachers while others are experienced and successful coaches from the Edmonton area. Our coaches are not current basketball players acting as coaches.

At The Basketball Edge, we have a mature professional coaching staff that takes an interest in your child’s basketball dreams. We are different than the other camps that use players to coach your children. Our coaching staff is selected for their ability to teach fundamentals of the game and to help athletes improve. The coaches provide the athletes with skills, drills, and performance strategies needed for them to progress to a higher level of competition. We like to refer to this as The Basketball Edge.

THE BASKETBALL EDGE SUMMER CAMP 2012, SHERWOOD PARK
July 2 - July 6, 2012 . Boys camp. Ages 10-15.

Location: Archbishop Jordan High School
Headcoaches: R Killen, M St Jean, O Lewis, A Lussier

Cost: $240 (+ GST) for five full days (35 hours) of camp.
Camp includes: T-shirt, Basketball Alberta Membership, and runs 9:00 - 4:00 for 5 full days.

THE BASKETBALL EDGE ELITE CAMP

This camp is designed to help current high school basketball players discover their limits and push their skills to infinite and beyond. The coach to player ratio of 1:8 or better is used at this elite at camp. Our coaches are professionals certified by the National Coaching Certification Program of Canada (NCCP). Some are also physical education teachers while others are experienced and successful coaches from the Edmonton area. Our coaches are not current basketball players acting as coaches.

This camp has a very strong emphasis on learning to play offense. We believe that athletes need to learn how to play offense and defense rather than to learn a specific offense or a specific defense. The athletes are encouraged to play all positions in order to achieve basketball excellence. They will become more global basketball players.

Generally, we provide the athletes with the knowledge base needed to execute the fundamental skills of basketball. Then the athletes practice the skill in an isolated situation with immediate coaching feedback. Technical reads are implemented as soon as the athlete has mastered the skill. Competitive practice situations and games which allow the athletes to apply their skills conclude our sessions We believe that athletes need to learn how to play offense and defense rather than to learn a specific offense or a specific defense.

THE BASKETBALL EDGE ON YOUR COURT

This program is another way to provide an excellent opportunity to be physically active, have fun and learn the proper techniques of the basketball fundamentals at your home court. One or more of our coaches will visit your school or community centre and conduct a camp that is custom designed to meet your needs.

Generally, we provide the athletes with the knowledge base needed to execute the fundamental skills of basketball. Then the athletes practice the skill in an isolated situation with immediate coaching feedback. Competitive practice situations and games which allow the athletes to apply their skills are used to conclude our sessions. The athletes are encouraged to play all positions in order to achieve basketball excellence. We believe that athletes need to learn how to play offense and defense rather than to learn a specific offense or a specific defense.

Our developmental program of sport education could be a fantastic after school program, a weekly evening program, a pre-season team builder, or a post season camp. Principles of offense and defense can be taught or we can teach specific offense and defense. We can show up for a one time session or an eight week session, it is really up to you. We recommend that you tell us what it is that you need and it will be our pleasure to build it for you.

Coaches, we are willing to bring this program to your home court in the pre-season. Although you cannot work with your team prior to the season, we can! This would allow us to get your team ready to play. We could run breakdown drills of your systems so that when the season starts your team will have an edge over the competition!
